With a one-of-a-kind   sound blending  Psychedelic Cumbia, Hip Hop, Dancehall, Reggae, and Latin rhythms, Suika T & Band delivers an explosive live experience that resonates in the heart and ignites the dance floor. Their original lyrics and positive messages invite celebration, unity, and freedom.

Based in Nevada County, the band has taken their music all across Northern California, performing in hundreds of venues and at some of the region’s most iconic festivals, including High Sierra Music Festival, Reggae on the River, Dry Diggings, Golden Road Gathering, OffBeat Music Festival, For the Funk of It, Western Lights, Burning Man. Coming to Joshua Tree Festival in the next edition.  

Suika T & Band deliver a powerful unique latin fusion sound  of celebration,  rhythm, culture, and community. Fronted by Mexican singer-songwriter Suika T, the 8-piece band combines explosive percussion, dynamic horn lines, psychedelic guitar, and uplifting lyrics with strong Latin roots.

 Conscious lyrics, explosive percussion, psychedelic guitar leads, and a powerful Latin horn section create a unique and vibrant sound that gets everyone dancing.

BAND MEMBERS BIO

SUIKA T

Originally from Mexico City, Suika T is a vocalist, multi instrumentalist and latin hip- hop artist and has been playing music for over 20 years.

Former member of Casa Verde Colectivo and Santo Color, amazing latin fusion bands from Latin America, where she developed as percussionist, pianist and vocalist. She was touring with this projects for more than a decade all around Mexico, Central and South America, Playing in many festivlas like Envision Fest, (Costa Rica) Cosmic Convergence (Guatemala), and Completed multiple tours in Europe and the United Kingdom, performing at renouned festivals, such as Fusion Festival (Germany), Montreux Jazz Festival ( Switzerland), Fringe Festival (Scotland), among many more. She continued to travel to South America and Africa
Suika T has compiled creations and collaborations in various countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland, Dominican Republic, The United States and Puerto Rico.
Suika  began to learn latin percussions (congas, bongoes and minor percussion) in Matanzas Cuba, and later took classes with Diego Alcazar ( percussionist from Antidoping one of the most famous reggae bands In Mexico) She studied piano with Yann Zaragoza (Mano Negra ).

She is a member of the SACM “SOCIEDAD DE AUTORES Y COMPOSITORES DE MÉXICO “ (The Mexican society of songwriters composers and authors) where she got a scholarship to Study composition and songwriting.

Roberto Pomart

Tito AKA Thunderlump, is a guitarist, Bassist, & vocalist from Northern California. Being a lifelong student of music, Tito has many influences from Hip Hop & Funk to RnB & Rock music. He is a very soulful Solo artist under the stage name Thunder Lump. Since joining Suika T. on Bass guitar in 2021, he has gained a deep respect and love for Cumbia music & all Latin rhythms.

“Being in this band is a dream come true for someone like me, who wants to expand his musicality to not only western music, but music from all over the world. I believe, with this band as the vehicle, I can expand my knowledge, music chops, and consciousness to places I’ve only imagined so far. It’s very exciting to work with this lineup and I hope we all grow from our experiences with each other."

EDGAR TORRES GALLEGOS

Eddie Conga

Edgar Torres is a master conga player and percussionist, renowned for his exceptional talent and over 15 years of experience as an independent musician. He began his musical journey at the prestigious Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana, Cuba, where he developed a strong foundation in Afro-Cuban music. He continued his education at the Escuela de Música Folclor de Matanzas, studying Afro-Cuban Folklore under the legendary Diosdado Ramos of Los Muñequitos de Matanzas. His passion for percussion led him to Colombia, where he studied traditional Afro-Colombian rhythms at the Escuela de Percusión Afro Colombiana Palenque de Bencos with Professor Lámpara.

Edgar's versatility shines through his mastery of a diverse range of genres, effortlessly moving between the vibrant rhythms of Son Cubano, Salsa, Rumba, and Guaguancó, and the improvisational freedom of Latin Jazz. He fuses the groove-driven energy of Funk, Ska, Latin Ska, and Reggae with the deep-rooted traditions of Bomba, Plena, Bachata, Merengue, and Cumbia. His repertoire also includes the Afro-Colombian sounds of Currulao, Mapalé, and Bullerengue, along with influences from Flamenco, Samba, and Son Jarocho, creating a rich and eclectic musical experience.

Throughout his career, Edgar has toured across Europe, Central, and South America, performing with bands such as La Resistencia de México, Son de Mazunte, Casa Verde Colectivo, Santo Color, Sud Sound System, The SoulFire Project, and Alejandro Marcovich. His global tours have taken him to countries including Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Guatemala, Brazil, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the USA.

Edgar’s collaborations with renowned artists, including Alejandro Marcovich (Caifanes), and his contributions to projects like the "No Borders" album, have further solidified his reputation as a world-class percussionist. Currently, he is an integral member of Suika T & Band   uwhere he continues to bring his extraordinary talent to the global stage, blending his mastery of Afro-Cuban and Afro-Colombian rhythms with contemporary sounds.

LUCIO LA RÜA

Mexican musician, multi-instrumentalist composer and producer based in the Mexican Pacific. A world-class traveler with more than a decade of professional career. He is an avid music collector with a taste that spans a wide variety of genres. Founder and vocalist of the legendary Mexican band Casa Verde Colectivo and also of the  international crew of Santo Color and co-creator of the independent label Mazuntrack Records & Alphadelik.

His vision in making music has always been to share the richness of traditional rhythms from different parts of the world fused with elements of electronic music and avant-garde instrumentation.

In his artistic pilgrimage he has been fortunate to collaborate with great artists and share the stage at iconic festivals such as Fusion (Germany) Burning Man (United States) Envision (Costa Rica) Montreaux Jazz Festival (Switzerland) Cumbre Tajín (Mexico) Cosmic Convergence ( Guatemala) to mention a few.

Brishen Dale Gieseler

The Cumbia Cowboy

 Brishen Dale Gieseler is a seasoned multi-instrumentalist with nearly two decades of experience performing in a wide variety of musical genres. A graduate in Musical Theory from the University of Oregon, Brishen’s education laid the foundation for his versatile and eclectic style. Throughout his career, he has honed his craft across genres such as Country, Blues, Jazz/Western Swing, Funk/Groove music, Cumbia, Bluegrass, Modern Old Time, and Hill Country Blues.

Since 2005, Brishen has been an active gigging musician, captivating audiences with his exceptional guitar skills, including open tunings and bottleneck techniques, as well as his proficiency on pedal steel, dobro, steel guitar, woodwinds, bass, and loop machines. Currently, he brings his unique talents to a Psychedelic Cumbia project, further expanding his diverse musical repertoire.

Although Brishen briefly pursued studies in musical engineering and ProTools 3, he ultimately chose to focus on his passion for live performance. His broad expertise and musical adaptability make him a compelling presence in any musical setting, from intimate acoustic shows to full-band performances, making him an invaluable addition to any ensemble.

TY LION HEART

The deep heartbeat of Suika T & Band.
A multi-instrumentalist with a background in jazz, funk, Afro-Latin rhythms, and rock, Ty brings explosive energy and masterful precision to every beat. Though skilled on many instruments, it's behind the drum set where his soul blazes brightest.

Ty doesn't just keep rhythm—he ignites it. His drumming is fire and movement, passion and power. On stage, he delivers an electric presence, balancing raw force with subtle musicality. Every hit is a call to the body, a pulse that wakes the dance floor and fuels the band’s vibrant spirit.

For him, "without clave, there is no life"—and he lives this truth through his music. Ty fuses improvisation with discipline, holding the backbone of the band with elegance, groove, and unshakable rhythm.

His percussive fire is essential to the sound of Suika T & Band, bringing strength, flavor, and soul to every performance.
